Say What?

Since I have several items on the burner today's blog will contain various topics.

BUSH TO ATTACK IRAN

According to an Israeli newspaper who quotes a "senior official" President Bush intends to attack Iran in upcoming months. Say What?
Personally I don't like stories like this one. #1 - If it's true why in the world would we tell anyone? Do you realize that there is no element of surprise in war with America these days? #2 - Who is this senior official sharing information that should be confidential? This is no different than Geraldo drawing the map in the sand to show American viewers where the soldiers he was embedded with were located. #3 - Stories like this simply paint Bush as a warmonger rather than a president who uses force when necessary. Don't get me wrong - Iran is a real threat that needs to be dealt with, but if we decide to drop a few bombs on their nuclear facility I believe that it will be planned out.

OBAMA SAYS WHAT WE CAN AND CANNOT DO

A couple of stories that came out over the last few days without a link (you'll have to trust me).
Obama says that his wife is off limits. He doesn't like the fact that she is being criticized in the media. Now let's think about this for a moment...Michelle Obama can stand on a stage somewhere and say that for the first time in her adult life she is "proud of America" but we can't call her on it? If she speaks publicly then she better be ready to wear a bulls-eye. She will come under the same scrutiny as her husband because our words carry weight.
One other thing from Obama came from a speech in Oregon when he basically said that we can't drive our big SUV's and use all the oil we want without concern for the thoughts of other countries. GIVE ME A BREAK! Last time I checked this is America - the land of the free. We have the freedom to choose between a hybrid vehicle or a gas guzzler. We have the freedom to choose between granola or a Big-Mac. I don't need the permission of a foreign country or a political leader.

MCCAIN IS A PROUD VETERAN BECAUSE HE WAS IMPRISONED

According to a NYT magazine - the only reason McCain could come out of Vietnam and be a proud soldier is because he spent so much time as a prisoner of war. Don't believe me - check out the quote:
"They are wary of seeming to denigrate McCain's service, marked by his legendary endurance in a Hanoi prison camp, when in fact they remain, to this day, in awe of it. And yet in private discussions with friends and colleagues, some of them have pointed out that McCain, who was shot down and captured in 1967, spent the worst and most costly years of the war sealed away, both from the rice paddies of Indochina and from the outside world. During those years, McCain did not share the disillusioning and morally jarring experiences of soldiers like Kerry, Webb and Hagel, who found themselves unable to recognize their enemy in the confusion of the jungle; he never underwent the conversion that caused Kerry, for one, to toss away some of his war decorations during a protest at the Capitol. Whatever anger McCain felt remained focused on his captors, not on his own superiors back in Washington."

SIMON SAYS THAT "ARCHIE" DELIVERED THE KNOCKOUT

How could I not share something about American Idol. According to Simon - last night's contest was a "knockout" delivered by David Archuleta. Don't get me wrong here - "Archie" delivered strong performances as far as the vocals were concerned, however, I wanted more. He sang 3 ballads, which are his strong point, but I couldn't help but think he's nothing more than Barry Manilow. Will Archie ever be able to sing a fast song without it sounding like a carnival performance? I had to disagree with Simon last night. Especially in round 2 because I felt that David Cook took a chance with the chosen song and did an awesome job. Just for the record I have said all along that David Cook should win but David A. will probably win. Why? American voters.

WHAT'S THE MEANING OF ALL THIS?

You need to pay attention to what's going on around you. If all you ever do is become a headline reader you are going to miss the news. Sure - Obama will probably become the democrat nominee for the White House but he's in a real "dog fight" and is losing in the popular vote. Sure - Iran is a real threat but it doesn't mean Bush is going to bomb them before he leaves office. Sure - McCain is a proud veteran of our armed services but it's not because he missed the jungles and rice patties. He's proud because he believes in America and understands that our freedoms are worth fighting for. Sure - Simon said that Archie won but for most viewers of American Idol their minds were already made up.

In our media determined world-view we better have an objective opinion about everything around us. Unless you are going to become a kool-aid drinker you better look to see what's in the pitcher. The Bible says that even satan can disguise himself as an angel of light. Nothing is always what it seems. Listen to what people say. Watch to see if words are carried out in action. Be active rather than reactive concerning the things around you. Make sure that your convictions are in order.

I hope you have enjoyed this...I know I have. Be Blessed!

Too bad Archie really did bring a passion and sincerity to his songs last night that DC left backstage somewhere. I really missed Cook's ability to change a song and bring a grit and edge to that song, but he definately let his nerves get the best of him last night.

Both David's are extremely talented and it's nice to be able to choose between 2 QUALIFIED candidates...which brings me to politics.

Neal is absolutely right about Michelle Obama...if she opens her mouth, then she should be ready to be able to take the heat when people start questioning her.

Why can't we have 2 QUALIFIED candidates running for office. One has simply been elected to senate and the only word he knows is "change" and believe me, it is a change that I'm terrified of, not have a hope in.

You can dress Obama up all you want to and make him "sound" experienced and qualified, but in the end my friends, he's still an Sanjaya (very bad American Idol from LY)!!!

Sad to say but America is far more likely to give Michelle a pass and forgive and forget the connection the Obama's have with their USA-bashing "church". And her husband expects us to turn our head when she says something so exposing to her core belief system. If you can't take the heat, then get out of the kitchen, or the race...whichever!

The new American Voter will vote for people because they are more attractive or more charasmatic than the other. Experience, beliefs, and track record no longer matters....all that matters is getting your person in there at no cost, right? Why do you think it took so long for Sanjaya to get voted off last year...voter ignorance...same is true this year only on a far more important level...our nation's VERY HEART is on the line!

56 million people voted for the American Idol semi-fianl last week...They voted because they knew the contests and they knew their experience. What if we had that many INFORMED and EDUCATED people vote in our elections...the world would be a different place...America...let's keep Sanjaya out of the White House!!!!
