Born Alive

We are all endowed by our creator with the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Life is one of our most basic human rights according to our Declaration of Independence, however, thousands of unborn children every year are denied what God has granted.

Gianna Jensen (pictured) is one of the few people in this world that has survived an assassination attempt on her life. The interesting part of her story is that she wasn't a president of a country, a popular political figure, or a civil rights activist. No, Gianna was simply an unwanted fetus in the womb of a 17 year old.

The story is horrific yet remarkable. A 17 year old goes to an abortion clinic in her 3rd trimester to have an abortion. The tool used is saline. Saline, which is safe for the individual having the abortion, acts as liquid fire upon the unborn child. For 18 hours this baby is burned alive before being delivered in the clinic. Thankfully, for this baby, the abortionist wasn't there when she came out of the womb and the nurse rushed the 2lb child to a hospital where she was kept in an incubator. The trauma caused the child to have cerebral palsy and doctors said that she would never walk or hold her head up on her own. However, by age 3 Gianna began to walk with the help of braces and today runs marathons!

What I truly love about Gianna's story is that she is unashamedly Christian. She exhibits a remarkable joy about her life and talks about her "gift" of cerebral palsy. On Hannity & Colmes last night, when Sean Hannity asks about the abortionist not being present she simply says, "Hallelujah!". Had he been present when she was delivered then she probably would have been choked to death.

Her story is told on the website www.bornalivetruth.org

Why do I share this with you today? Simply this: during our election cycle we are going to hear a lot about the war on terror and in Iraq, the economy, oil prices, wall street, and health care. But let us not forget about one of the greatest scars upon our nation which is the thousands of unborn children who are aborted. Our nation - the land of the free and home of the brave, a beacon of freedom from tyranny, a nation that claims the national slogan of "One Nation Under God"...and yet we continue to hear the stories of those who never had the opportunity at life. Mass murder is committed every year in our nation under the label of "A Woman's Right to Choose" and we must right this wrong.

Pray that we see our nation return to this fundamental right - the right to life.

Neal,
This is a wonderful article and a great representation of the dominion that God has over our lives. Recently I have seen in my local paper Anabaptist Christian's using the sanctity of life to condemn the use of deadly force by our military.
The overwhelming remark by most is this, "if we are to save the lives of every child, then how can we take the lives of any other man" "murder is murder"? How can I refute this in a Biblical way. I know that Jesus held soldiers in high esteem, but how can I convey to them that a soldier doing their duty is not guilty of murder like an abortionist?

The Bible also teaches us that there is a time for war and a time for peace. There is a huge difference between murder and those who are killed in battle.
God, at times, told the Israelites to go out to battle and to wipe out (no one left) certain people groups.
