Some Good News from Election Day

Some very interesting news (good news!) out of several states that voted to protect traditional marriage.

Proposition 8, as it came to be known, was a ballot initiative in some states to protect the definition & tradition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Even in the state of California this ballot initiative passed by a strong majority. This speaks well of our country. I truly believe that "We the People" are sick of the courts trying to legislate homosexual unions from the bench and given the opportunity Americans continue to strike down the idea of extending legal unions to homosexuals.

This passage is already in the courts. Once again marriage is going to be placed in front of judges. And once again we will have to wait and see what the judge deems to be constitutional.

Depending on where you get your news you may have heard that this passed by a narrow margin - you may have heard that it was the direct result of well funded Mormon organizations - you may have heard that this was due to narrow minded. However, exit polls have proven that it's not just religious people who are speaking out against gay marriage...NO, it's the vast majority of people living in these states. And as a person who believes in state's rights, each of these states have the right to set the laws in regard to marriage.

Today - you will hear of people who are rioting in the streets. Protests are being staged, people have been arrested, and once again California is in the spotlight. All we can hope for is that the will of the people who voted in the election will be respected. This is how it should be done.

We thank God that once again traditional marriage has won among the minds and hearts of the American people. We pray that it continues to be protected.
