DAVID COOK WINS (IN A KNOCKOUT)
According to Ryan Seacrest, David Cook won American Idol by 12 million votes! Interesting that Simon called Tuesday a knockout for the other David considering that when it came down to votes the "Archie" corner was barely swinging.
Congratulations to David Cook. I said all along that I thought he should win but I didn't know if he could get the votes. I was wrong (that's right - I admit it). The question is whether or not Cook will go down the road of a Kelly Clarkson & Carrie Underwood or if he will be swept into obscurity like Ruben, Fantasia, or Taylor. Either way he needs the prayers of believers as he will be faced with all the temptations that come against someone in the music industry.
IN OTHER NEWS
And in keeping with the music theme - I just read a report about the 5 year old daughter of Steven Curtis Chapman passing away after being struck by a vehicle in her driveway.
According to the report the vehicle was driven by her older brother who did not see little Maria. She was rushed to the hospital where she eventually died. Folks, this is tragic news. In case you haven't heard the stories coming out of the Chapman home over the past few years, Steven has become a huge advocate of adoption. The family had adopted 3 daughters from China (which included Maria) and also have 3 biological children.
I cannot imagine the pain that the Chapman family is experiencing today. Any accident involving a child is horrific but those that happen at home (and in this manner) are especially tragic. I ask you to pray for Steven, his wife Mary Beth, and the rest of the children. Pray that the God of all comfort will give them His peace during this time. Pray for the son who has driving the vehicle. I hope that in the midst of this darkness that the light of Christ will shine brightly.
Job said, "Shall we accept good from God and not trouble?" And according to the Bible, "In all this, Job did not sin in what he said." In life we have to learn to take the good with the bad. Every day a child is born and every day another child dies. The only way we can keep our sanity during the roller coaster of life is to have our feet firmly planted in our faith in Jesus Christ.
When Jesus was on the earth He spoke peace to calm the storms. May He continue to speak peace to those who are in the midst of life's storms. In all of this we must remember that Jesus walks upon the waves that beat up against us. God is still Jehovah-Shalom (God our Peace).
Dear Steven and Family - Our prayers are with you.

I just read an article on the Washington Post that calls "Archie" the name of "Baby Elmo." All I can say is...that's funny...go ahead and laugh!
He really does look like a baby elmo face when you think about it. I bet if you were to pull the string in his back he would probably give that fake "oh gosh, I'm so surprised" look and mouth the words thank you. Anyway, just thought I would share that bit of humor with the world today!
